Gujarat Adani Institute of Medical Sciences

Gujarat Adani Institute of Medical Sciences (GAIMS) is a unique Public Private Partnership (PPP) venture between Adani Education and Research Foundation and Government of Gujarat.

GAIMS is affiliated to KSKV Kachchh University.

The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India had issued the Letter of Permission (LoP) dated July 13, 2009 to GAIMS for starting a Medical College at Bhuj with total intake of 150 students from the academic year 2009-10. It was a notable milestone for GAIMS when the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, issued the Letter of Final Recognition (LoR) dated June 16, 2014 for an annual intake of 150 students for M.B.B.S course.

The 27-Acre campus of GAIMS, situated in the heart of Bhuj city in Kachchh District of Gujarat, houses the Hospital Building, Nursing School, Staff Residential Quarters and Students Hostels. The Medical College Complex is part of the same campus. GAIMS is committed to excellence in the field of Medical Education and Research.

GAIMS teaching hospital, G.K. General Hospital, is a 750 bed multi-specialty Hospital.

Bhuj was established by Rao Hamirji in 1510. Bhuj was made the state capital of the princely state of Kutch by Rao Khengarji I in 1549. Today, Bhuj is the district headquarters of the Kachchh district, the largest district of India. 

The total population of Bhuj was 1,47,123 in the year 2011, which consisted of 77,900 males and 69,223 females. 

Bhuj has an average elevation of 110 meters (360 feet). On the eastern side of the town is a hill known as Bhujiyo that separates Bhuj and Madhapar village. A large lake, Hamirsar, occupies a place of pride for Bhuj. Bhuj is dotted by several small lakes.

'Gujarat Adani Institute of Medical Sciences' (GAIMS) is a unique Public-Private Partnership (PPP) between Adani Group and Govt. of Gujarat, under which a high-tech Medical College was established at Bhuj in 2009. GAIMS is part of Adani Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, and is managed by Adani Education & Research Foundation, under the umbrella of Adani Foundation. I am happy to convey that GAIMS has been recognized by Medical Council of India (MCI) in June 2014 for 150 seats intake for MBBS program. Post-Graduate medical programs are also underway. The attached teaching hospital is a 700 bedded multi-specialty modern hospital with all necessary support services. The campus is spread across 27 acres of land in the midst of Bhuj city, housing a Medical College, Teaching Hospital, Hostels for Boys and Girls and Quarters for Staff and Residents.
